Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta expressed serious concern about the condition of Bukayo Saka, who sustained an injury in the Champions League match against Bayern. The game at the Allianz Arena ended in a 2-2 draw, and the nature of the English winger's injury remains worrying.

The incident occurred already in the 10th minute of the match. Saka fell onto the pitch while trying to make a pass, although there were no opponents nearby. Due to the injury the player could not continue, and Eberechi Eze came onto the field in his place, later scoring the opening goal of the match.

After the match Arteta told TNT Sports that the medical staff were concerned about the player's condition. According to the coach, a sudden pain that forces a player to leave the field early usually does not bode well. The specialist also emphasized that final conclusions can only be drawn after further examination.

Saka faces health problems again

In recent months the English winger has repeatedly struggled with injuries. Back in March he damaged his Achilles tendon, after which he missed the international break and seven Arsenal matches. He later returned to fitness and helped the team win the Premier League title for the first time in 22 years.

Because of the Achilles problem Saka's playing time had to be limited both at club level towards the end of last season and with the England national team at the World Cup.

In the Champions League final against Paris Saint‑Germain the winger started, but was substituted already in the 54th minute.

At the World Cup Saka also did not always start from the first minutes: he was in the starting lineup in only three of England's eight matches. Nevertheless the winger recorded a hat‑trick in the third‑place match, in which the English beat France 6‑4.

Bukayo Saka's injury history

Fitness issues have plagued the player before. In December 2024 he suffered a posterior thigh injury that required surgery. In the 2024/25 season his recovery took 101 days.

Despite the forced absences, Saka played 49 matches for Arsenal last season.

In addition to the Achilles tendon injury and the thigh injury, in January he also faced a problem with his hip joint and had to skip the warm‑up before the match against Leeds. Another posterior thigh injury later kept him out for about four weeks.

Now Arsenal's medical staff will have to determine the severity of the new quadriceps injury. Saka's recovery timetable is still undetermined.

What fantasy owners of Bukayo Saka should do

Bukayo Saka is a very popular pick for fantasy football players, both in Fantasy Premier League and Champions League Fantasy. Arsenal's winger has overall quite good stats this season.

In Fantasy Premier League Saka has already earned 37 points for his owners over 7 gameweeks, at a price of 9.6 million pounds.

In Fantasy Champions League Saka has 13 points from 3 matches, and is priced at 8.5 million euros.

Who to replace Saka with in your fantasy squad? There is an obvious option – Eberechi Eze, who will replace Bukayo in the Canonicals lineup during his treatment. And judging by how Eze came on as a substitute in the Bayern match, he can be considered a quality replacement for the teammate.

But other options outside Arsenal can also be considered. And here our fantasy advice comes into play, outlined in the article about the injury of another English Premier League star – Antoine Semenyo. All of it applies to the situation with Bukayo Saka.
