Bayern midfielder Luis Diaz suffered a muscle injury during the Champions League match against Arsenal, which took place on Wednesday, October 21. Medical examination confirmed a minor tear of the muscle fibers on the back of his left thigh. Because of the injury, the 29-year-old Colombian will be out of action for some time.

Initially, exact dates for Diaz's return to the field were not announced – at least, the Bayern press office did not officially disclose this. However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, inside the club they expect the player's recovery to take roughly four to six weeks. The precise timing of Diaz's return to the field has not yet been confirmed.

Which Bayern matches Luis Diaz will miss

Because of the injury, the Colombian midfielder risks missing several important Champions League fixtures for the Munich club. In particular, he will not play in the away match against Atlético Madrid.

His participation in the next away tournament match against Lille is also in doubt.

If the recovery proceeds according to the preliminary schedule, Diaz will be able to return for the final part of the Champions League group stage. Ahead, Bayern have matches against Slavia Prague, Manchester United and Betis.

Thus, the length of the Colombian's rehabilitation will be crucial for the team's plans over the coming weeks. However, the final return dates will become clear as the player recovers.

What fantasy Champions League owners should do about Diaz

For the next two rounds, Fantasy Champions League players would be better off selling Luis Díaz and buying another valuable player in his position – a midfielder. Considering the Colombian’s price – 8 million euros, there should be no problem for his owners to find a quality replacement in the Fantasy Champions League.

Here are several promising options to replace Luis Díaz in the Fantasy Champions League for the upcoming 4th round of the group stage:

Eberechi Eze (Arsenal) – price 7.5 million euros

The Englishman has already scored 18 points for his owners in Fantasy UCL over 3 rounds, and he still wasn't the undisputed option for Arsenal's core, which he now becomes after the injury to Bukayo Saka.

In the 4th round Arsenal play against modest Slavia Prague, and although the match will be away for the Londoners, Mikél Arteta's charges can score many goals. And Eze could become the headline of this high‑scoring affair.

Vinícius Júnior (Real Madrid) – price 9.5 million euros

You’ll have to overpay a bit for the Brazilian, but for the 4th round in Fantasy Champions League Vinícius is an excellent choice! Not only will Real’s opponents feature a modest Greek AEK, but Vinícius himself will be clearly motivated to showcase himself in full glory. After all, in La Liga he is currently suspended for several matches, and the European cups are his only way to play football for this technical and talented winger.

Anthony Gordon (Barcelona) – price 8 million euros

The Englishman has already scored 9 points in 3 rounds, but at home against Aston Villa Gordon may have a double motivation to show his best football. After all, Anthony will be playing against a club from his own country. Overall, the winger's career statistics against the Birmingham side are not very impressive – just 1 goal and 1 assist in 12 matches for Everton and Newcastle. But right now Gordon will get a chance to face the Villans as part of the strongest team of his life. And it's not only about the club's level, but also about the real strength of Barcelona these days. Only a few teams in the world can compete on equal terms with the Catalans.

Our advice on who to replace Luis Diaz with in the Champions League Fantasy – Vinicius Junior. We think the Brazilian, hungry for football during his suspension, will record a couple of goals or assists against AЕК.
